Kia sold 2.8 million cars in 2021. For this year, the South Koreans are counting on sales growth of 13.4%

Kia Corporation, part of the Hyundai Group, announced that it sold 2,777,056 cars in 2021, an increase of 6.5% over last year. In 2022, the company wants a 13.4% advance in sales to 3.15 million units.
Kia’s 2021 sales in markets outside of South Korea saw a 9.1% year-on-year increase to 2,242,040 units. Sales in South Korea totaled 535,016 units.
For December 2021 alone, Kia’s global monthly sales fell 4% year-on-year to 208,965 units.
By model, the Sportage SUV topped the 2021 global sales rankings with 363,630 units, followed by the Seltos SUV with 298,737 units and the Forte sedan (known as K3 in South Korea) with 240,627 units.
Kia saw an increase in total sales last year due to its effective supply chain management strategies and the successful launch of new models, including the Kia EV6.
In 2022, Kia is targeting global sales of 3.15 million units. By region, Kia expects to sell 562,000 units in South Korea and 2.59 million cars in markets outside South Korea.
Kia plans to maintain sales momentum in 2022, minimizing the impact of supply chain disruptions through optimized production plans, while securing its leadership in the global electric car market with its unique electrified mobility range. This year, Kia will launch several models such as the Kia EV6 GT and the new Niro, reflecting the company’s commitment to becoming a sustainable mobility solutions provider.
