After the German company EMZ Hanauer, which will create 500 jobs in Reșița, a Spanish company is also interested in investing in the town on Bârzava, according to the mayor Ioan Popa, quoted by Rador.

Citizens of Resita will also be able to work “at home” for big money, without having to move to big cities or even go abroad. Although websites are full of job advertisements, people say that the minimum wage is not enough for a decent living, so most of those with higher education choose to leave their hometown and family behind.

Mayor Ioan Popa hopes this will change. “I hope to succeed in bringing back at least some of the people from Reșiț who, because of the problems of the last 10-15 years, have decided to relocate elsewhere, not yet having sold their apartments or homes in the city. We are also in talks with a Spanish company to build a data center in the Industrial Park. It’s a commercial company from Madrid, but I can’t disclose their name yet. We are talking about up to 100 jobs, very well paid jobs, thousands of euros per month, we are talking about specialists who have to do maintenance on the part of database servers,” Popa told Radio Reșița.

Mayor Ioan Popa said the Madrid-based company needs 20 megawatts of electricity capacity and high internet power.

“They asked us for precise data on electricity and internet capacities. We provided them with all this data, obviously in very good cooperation with ENEL, and I thank them for their promptness. People need 20 megawatts, that’s quite a lot of power. For example, a factory like my former macaroni factory consumes about one megawatt and produces 10,000 tonnes of pasta per year. Fortunately, there is this power reserve available in the immediate vicinity of the Industrial Park, and on the internet side we have a very good connection on the main line coming from Timisoara.”
