In September 2021, among EU Member States, the highest average annual rate of change in prices of fuels and lubricants for personal transport was recorded in Luxembourg (31%), Romania (29%) and Slovenia (29%), and the lowest average annual rates of change were in Ireland (15%), Italy, Finland and Greece (all 18%), data published on Tuesday by the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) and quoted by Agerpres show.

Over the past two decades, prices in the EU for fuel and lubricants for personal transport have been highly volatile, with annual inflation rates ranging from minus 20% to plus 20%.
Recently, this volatility has become extremely pronounced, with annual rates rising from a low of minus 20% in May to plus 23% in September.
And a decade ago there were significant increases, with annual rates rising from minus 19% in July 2009 to plus 20% in March 2020.
