The National Energy Regulatory Authority fines the big gas supply companies E.ON and Engie with 400,000 lei

The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) found delays in sending responses to complaints from final customers regarding the billing of the natural gas supply service. The ANRE applied sanctions in the total amount of 400,000 lei.

The ANRE representatives transmitted that, through the control actions carried out, the institution verified, the observance of the provisions of the Performance Standard for the natural gas supply activity. It refers to the fulfillment by the suppliers of the obligation to respond, within 15 days, to the notifications of the final customers regarding the invoicing of the natural gas supply service.

The highest fine was applied E.ON Energie Romania (market share 41.33%) – 310,000 lei. Also, the company ENGIE ROMANIA (market share 47%) was fined 90,000 lei

At the same time, the suppliers were ordered to pay to the final customers who did not receive answers within the legal term, the penalties due in accordance with the provisions of the Performance Standard for the natural gas supply activity. More precisely, 30 lei for non-compliance with the response deadline of 15 days from the date of registration of the request and 5 lei for each additional day of delay.

Natural gas suppliers have the obligation to automatically pay final customers the penalties due for non-compliance with deadlines and additional days of delay.
