According to data published by the Directorate of Driving Licenses and Vehicle Registration (DRPCIV), Ford Romania ends 2021 as the market leader in the commercial vehicle segment, while Ford Puma is the best-selling hybrid model on the market. In 2021, the commercial vehicle market (excluding the HCV segment) grew by 14% compared to 2020, an increase mainly due to positive developments in the 2T and pick-up segments. Thus, Ford maintains its leading position with a 19.7% market share and a 21% increase in volumes compared to 2020.
The Ford Transit Custom model achieves its best segment share in eight years at 30.7% and a 30% increase in volumes sold compared to 2020. The Ford Ranger maintains its segment leadership for the fifth consecutive year with a 37.4% segment share and 18% volume growth compared to 2020. Of total Ford Ranger sales, the Raptor version accounts for a 32% share.
The Transit model is on a positive trend, with a 30% increase over 2020, so it ranks second in the segment with an 18.47% share.

Ford accelerates electrification in 2022 and prepares new models
The new Ford Fiesta is set to arrive in Ford showrooms in mid-February, followed by the new Ford Focus just a month later. Both models will offer customers multiple versions of electrified powertrains.
After debuting last year on the Romanian market, the Mustang Mach-E is now available in a GT version with 487 hp, all-wheel drive and a maximum range of up to 500 km.
In terms of commercial vehicle launches, Ford Romania will focus this year on the all-electric E-Transit – which offers the longest range in the segment (317 km WLPT), as well as the new Ranger, the most advanced and connected Ranger ever built by Ford.
By mid-2026, 100% of Ford’s passenger car range in Europe will be fully electric or Plug-in Hybrid, with the transition to an all-electric range by 2030.
