The National Council of Small and Medium-Sized Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR) is launching a project to encourage entrepreneurship and employment among students, reports News.ro. Young people will be able to obtain funding of between €40,000 and €60,000.

The CNIPMMR is implementing the Startup Ingenium project from January 2022 to December 2023, with a total value of 9.68 million lei. It is co-financed from the European Social Fund through the Human Capital Operational Programme 2014-2020.

The overall objective of the project is to encourage entrepreneurship and employment among students by supporting the establishment of businesses operating in economic sectors with competitive potential, the institution says.

The target group targeted by the project consists of 350 people from several categories of eligible target groups: students (ISCED level 5-7) and PhD students (PhD students, ISCED level 8) living/residing in the less developed regions of Romania (namely North-East, South-East, South Muntenia, South-West Oltenia, West, North-West and Centre), as well as in the more developed Bucharest-Ilfov region.

“Thus, the project will organize vocational training courses, internships and mentoring and 29 people will participate in a competition of business ideas for funding between 40,000 euros and 60,000 euros (the first 13 business plans proposing 2 jobs will get 40,000 euros and the first 13 business plans proposing 3 jobs will get 60,000 euros),” CNIPMMR states.

After the implementation of the project, the results should be as follows: 350 people tested to assess their entrepreneurial potential; 350 graduation certificates issued by the ANC attesting the improvement of entrepreneurial skills; 65 jobs created and maintained; 29 internship reports related to the internship carried out by the people whose business plans have been selected for de minimis aid plus 3 more reserves; 29 people benefiting from personalized counseling/consulting/mentoring services; 26 businesses set up under Law 346/2004.
