Romania’s wind turbines were producing as much electricity as three nuclear reactors the size of those at Cernavodă on Monday afternoon, with the country being an exporter of electricity, according to data on the state of the national energy system, presented in real-time on the Transelectrica website and analyzed by Agerpres.

The top source was hydropower, which accounted for 25.8% of the total energy produced, with 2,270 MW.

Wind power was in second place, with 2,096 MW, equivalent to three nuclear reactors such as those at Cernavodă, which have an installed capacity of 700 MW.

Next came-in hydrocarbons – 1,829 MW, nuclear – 1,345 MW, coal – 1,152 MW, biomass – 69 MW and photovoltaics – 15 MW.

At 15:10, national consumption was 8,450 MW, production 8,777, the difference representing exports.
