A town hall in the commune of Gura Văii, Bacău, has announced on regional television Acum TV that it is selling 129 houses built between 2005 and 2006 at a bargain price. The houses start at 250 euros and go up to 1,250 euros. Although this seems like a very good price, those interested should be aware that they are ending up in a ghost village.
The houses in Rotunda, Gura Văii, were built in 2005-2006 by the government in the village near Onești, initially for families affected by floods. However, the residents occupied them for a short time and then abandoned them, even taking their belongings with them.
So the houses have been abandoned for years, are in a state of disrepair because they were not finished from the getgo, and lack basic services. There is no road, except dirt roads. Although there are electricity poles, the houses are not connected to the grid. At the same time, the owners will have to solve the problem of drinking water and sewage if they want to live there.
The Gura Valii town hall has previously tried to repopulate the area by renting out the houses, but this has not been possible. Three years ago it tried again to sell the houses for between €5,200 and €7,000.
Of the 200 houses, 71 have been sold so far. There are still 12 houses available for purchase.
The houses are currently being offered for sale at the price of rent in the center of Bucharest.
How to get your hands on a house that costs from €250
The mayor told regional television Acum TV that those who want to buy such a house should first go to Rotunda and choose the house they want (house or duplex). The cheapest house is 247 euros and the most expensive is 1,250 euros, depending on the degree of wear and tear. The person wishing to purchase the house submits an application to the town hall, and at the meeting of the Gura Văii Local Council, the remaining property lots will be submitted for approval for sale.
After the Council’s approval, the Public Procurement Department will publish in the Official Gazette and on the institution’s website the “Announcement of participation in the public tender for the 129 lots,” said the mayor.
The housing can then be purchased by auction, where the highest price offered determines the winner. According to the mayor, by the deadline for submitting bids, those who want a house will submit a price offer, which must contain the documents required by law, in a sealed envelope.
In the auction, the highest price determines the winner. The sale and purchase contracts will then be concluded before the notary public. The mayor mentions that there is no possibility of online bidding, all procedures require physical presence or with a person empowered by notarial power of attorney.
