Prices for outboundfaceargardgergargagargr shipments will explode, while prices for imports will drop drastically starting this week, according to Euro Team GB Spedition, a freight forwarding company, quoted by News.ro. The company’s data shows that there are, on average, more than 9,200 transport requests daily on the spot market for imports and just under 3,400 for exports to the main EU countries.

“From this week, prices for outward shipments will explode, while for imports they will drop drastically. The explanation is simple: while Romanians driving abroad will return home, they will not want to come with empty trucks and will accept whatever offer they get, they will only mitigate their road expenses. On the other hand, for exports, because there will be customers who will want to send their goods before Christmas, but there will not be enough drivers available to do so, they will ask for increased transport prices”, said Octavian Blăjan, CEO Euro Team Gb Spedition.

He says that although imports will be 7-8 times more than exports, the latter will be at least double the price.

“On exports, prices will double also because carriers will ask for a round-trip tariff, because on the return they won’t have any cargo and can’t move at a financial loss. Customers who have an acute need for transport pay the amounts demanded. Imports almost three times more than exports If we go by the demand for road freight, spot imports are almost three times more than imports,” he adds.

There are, on average, more than 9,200 spot market transport requests for imports and just under 3,400 for exports to major EU countries every day.

“The only abnormalities in recent years in relation to the increased rate of imports can be found in France, where, as can be seen, import and export transport requests have a ratio of almost 1:1, while in the UK, exports are more than 3 times higher,” said Octavian Blăjan.

According to the international transport expert, Romania is importing fruit and vegetables from countries on the northern Mediterranean during this period.

“There are two types of shipments, contract and spot. With contracts, goods are transported according to the capacity of the transport company. When the customer has more goods than the contract company can carry, the surplus goods end up in spot, i.e. on offer on the commodity exchanges,” said Octavian Blăjan, an expert in national and international transport.

When there is more freight on the market than carriers, spot prices are higher than those in contracts. Conversely, when there is less freight, spot prices can be even lower than contract prices.

Euro Team GB Spedition was established in 2015 and is a freight forwarding company, operating in Europe, but mainly in the UK. It currently has over 3,000 customers annually and almost 1,000 subcontractors and partners. For 2021, the company’s CEO Octavian Blăjan estimates a turnover of €10 million.
