Romania should only copy some things done by others regarding the digital transformation, but not even does it succeed, considers the executive director of the National Association of Internet Service Providers, Tiberiu Gindu, quoted by AGerpres. He also said that after the pandemic crisis passes, the appetite and speed of implementation for digital transformations will decrease.

“Times of crisis have this talent for accelerating change. I expect the appetite and speed of implementation of digital transformations to decrease after this crisis. We will see a decrease in speed (implementation, n.r.). It doesn’t mean a complete stop. A stimulus could still be, at least internally, from the political competition. We have some relatively young political forces that might want to push harder on this subject. The older ones will not give up wither, because they know they would lose the moment, and from here I think that future evolutions will come at the state level, where everyone recognizes the problem exists (i.e. digitalization) and that they can be left behind. In Romania, there are still rural localities where you do not have access to enough good services, there there is no fiber optics network, and there is still the problem of educating the end-user. At the regional level, Estonia, which is also part of the Eastern bloc, out of the socialist camp, and even worse than us, from the Soviet empire, has for years set an example even by the West for the implementation of e-Government. For us it should be very simple: just copy some things done by others, but even at that we fail. Probably we should have a kind of cross-party memorandum to ensure stability in political change, a long-term vision that does not fluctuate from today to tomorrow “, said Tiberiu Gindu on Monday in a specialized conference, dedicated to the International Telecommunication Day.
