Airline industry recovers from pandemic blow. Wizz Air announces 300 pilots to be recruited by the end of the year

Low-cost airline Wizz Air says it aims to recruit at least 300 more pilots by the end of this year, reports News.ro. The operator would hire 4,600 new pilots by 2030 and triple its fleet in the next ten years.

“Wizz Air is announcing the intensification of pilot recruitment across its network, with a target to hire 4,600 new pilots by 2030. The airline has already trained more than 150 new pilots to fly this summer at over 100% of pre-Covid capacity and aims to recruit at least 300 more by the end of this year as part of its ambitious post-pandemic growth plans,” the company announces.

The pilots joining the company will operate on the fleet of new Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, on more than 800 routes to 191 destinations in 49 countries.

“Wizz Air is committed to at least tripling the size of its fleet, with 500 Airbus aircraft expected over the next ten years,” the company adds.

The company is awaiting applications from experienced captains and first officers as well as those with no flying experience. Wizz Air is also continuing to recruit flight crew at its 43 bases.

Wizz Air has opened 18 new bases and introduced over 300 new routes across the network in the last year.

All Wizz Air flights are operated with 180-seat Airbus A320, 186-seat A320neo, 230-seat A321 and 239-seat Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Wizz Air, a low-cost airline, operates a fleet of 142 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. Wizz Air carried 10.2 million passengers in the F21 financial year ending 31 March 2021. Wizz Air is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
